I am currently a lecturer in the Department of Cognitive Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Before this, I got my PhD in Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and before that I got my BA in Linguistics at the College of William & Mary. Before all that though, I grew up and lived in Massachusetts; despite not living there for many years, Boston will always be my home.
Outside of my research, my passions are in sports (☘️☘️☘️), music, and trying all kinds of different foods and snacks. My students already know this: my favorite food is celery. Once a week I cook a dish from a different country in the world selected randomly – there’s been a wide range of dishes and a wide range of success rates.
In June 2023 I got married to my wonderful wife Vivian. In April 2022 we adopted a little puppy named Miso. She’s a mix of many different breeds (mostly chihuahua/dachshund/cattle dog); she’s extremely sweet and gentle, with a touch of stubbornness and an attention span even smaller than she is.
